NCAA Football 07 on XBOX 360

NCAA Football 07

I hate you EA Sports. First of all you guys screwed me out of a job 2 years ago, but I let that go. Now you screw me out of a decent version of NCAA Football 07. I couldn’t wait for this game thinking that it would be even better than the version released for the regular XBOX. Boy was I wrong. I can’t express how disappointed I am. First of all, my favorite new feature “Create a Campus Legend” mode is completely missing from the 360 version. Why did I waste $400 on the Xbox 360 and $60 on this game when my original Xbox has a better version of this game? How do you leave out everything from the game that is worth playing? I hate you EA Sports and Tiburon, you can all burn in hell for the mistake of releasing this crap. I will play the original version on the Xbox thank you very much. Don’t buy the 360 version. Basically everything that makes this game, new different, and cooler than 06 is missing on the 360 version. And it sucks hardcore like Madden 06 on the Xbox 360 did. Thanks for nothing bastards.

NCAA 07 utilizes the same game engine that was used in the previous Madden game so that means that the 360 version doesn’t feel anything like its counterpart on the Xbox. Players feel like they carry a bit less momentum while running on the field, so their movements are a bit quicker than in the past generation. That withstanding it’s still basically the same play experience as we’ve seen in past years. The same camera angles are used and the trio of ESPN commentators are back yet again with their clever (or not-so-clever) little quips. Sadly, just like last year’s Madden title NCAA is a little shallow when it comes to its feature set. The main mode of play is still the dynasty mode, but the new campus legend feature that made its way into this year’s NCAA on the Xbox is completely absent. Still you do get the standard dynasty offering and all that it entails. That means in-season recruiting is back, so you’ll get to assign points to targeted prospects from across the nation just as you did in last year’s game. The process is identical to NCAA 06, but since it wasn’t broken it didn’t really need much fixing to begin with. The off-season activities have also gone largely unchanged, whereas in the Xbox version there are new spring drills and a spring game to take part in.

Other little things have also been left out of NCAA 07 on the 360 like the ability to rename your coach or create your own school and signage, there also appears to be a bit of a discrepancy between the rosters in the two games. Some players make appearances in the Xbox version that have been left out of the game on the 360. We’re not talking any headliners obviously, but the starting tight end on FSU’s team differed between the two versions. Of the two, the Xbox rendition seemed to be more accurate. A small number of starters on defense are at the wrong position (mainly linebackers being shuffled around) when compared to where they’ll be starting in real life, a mistake that the Xbox game does not make. Other things that don’t make the cut in NCAA 07 include stadium pulse, the new spring drills, defensive hot routes via the right analog stick, the third person camera perspective, ESPN The Magazine replacing the standard weekly Sports Illustrated issue, as well as few other less notable absences. Ultimately it’s the lack of the small things that the Xbox version includes that holds the 360 version back from true greatness and a spot in the gaming Hall of Fame.
